Company commander Claus and his men are stationed in Afghanistan, while his wife in Denmark is finding it difficult to hold everyday family life together. During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire. To save his men, Claus makes a fatal decision, which will impact his life and his family.
Tobias Lindholm directed two award-winning films (R, A Hijacking), co-wrote screenplays with Thomas Vinterberg (including The Hunt) and co-wrote TV series Borgen. A War, nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards, is a realistic and sensitive piece, featuring a superb performance Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones).
