The Scarlet Empress

USA 1934 | 97 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

At the beginning of the 17th century, in a remote corner of Prussia, little princess Catherine was chosen by fate to head the Russian Empire and become one of the most famous women in history. Joseph von Sternberg does not concentrate on building a historical portrait and his main intention is to hold a tribute to the actress he crafted and the acting qualities that only he was able to bring out of her.
