Some one million Armenians were slaughtered in the genocide carried out by the Ottoman regime. Eight decades later director Atom Egoyan returns to deal with the trauma. The film's protagonists are a filmmaker of Armenian origin, a historian, and her son who goes to visit the land of his ancestors. The film-within-a-film takes us back to the genocide.
