Hostel

USA, Slovakia 2005 | 95 minutes | English, Slovak | Hebrew subtitles

A low-budget horror film that had great box office success. Three backpackers hear of a place in Slovakia that will fulfill all their sexual fantasies, but upon arrival they discover an unpleasant surprise. An affective gore film in which many details are open to political interpretation, such as American greed has a price—blood and body mutilation. Roth effectively plays with news and cinematic imagery, posing questions on national and masculine identity.
