A Report on the Party and the Guests

Czechoslovakia 1966 | 71 minutes | Czech | Hebrew subtitles

A group of happy picnickers is disrupted by a bullying sadist who makes them follow his orders. They comply, at first jokingly, but soon it becomes clear that he who doesn't obey will be punished. Soon after, the bully's aristocratic father arrives, apologizes for his son and invites the group to a dinner party. But when one of the guests disappears, the party turns into a fully-armed manhunt. This example of Czech New Wave cinema is a comment on the dangers of conformity.
