Strangers on a Train

USA 1951 | 101 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

Two strangers meet on a train. Guy is a famous tennis player who wants to divorce his wife and marry his new girlfriend. Bruno, the initiator of the meeting, would like to get rid of his father and offers Guy to exchange murders: I will get rid of your wife, you will eliminate my father. The conversation ends without an agreement, but not long after, Bruno murders Guy's wife. Based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith, Hitchcock created one of his best films. The screenplay was written by an equally successful thriller writer - the great Raymond Chandler - but Hitchcock removed motivations from the text and left the main character's guilt at the center of the plot. As always, the use of the camera plays a significant role in creating a feeling of anxiety for the viewers.
