Borat

USA 2006 | 82 minutes | Romanian, Polish, English, Hebrew, Armenian | Hebrew subtitles

Borat Sagdiev, the Kazakh television reporter, sets out for the USA to bring the message of the superpower to the citizens of Kazakhstan. In New York, he watches "Baywatch" and falls in love with Pamela Anderson, who quickly turns into the object of his quest. On the way he meets all sorts of Americans whom he challenges with his broken English and the prejudices, he brought with him from the heartland of Central Asia. And what do you know, it turns out that despite the great distance, sometimes racism, misogyny, and other ills are not the sole claim to fame of countries known as "third world".... A winning combination of physical humor and absurd documentary-like moments turn Borat into one of the best comedies of the early 21st century.
