Early 20th century England. When Clive declares his love for Maurice, Maurice is a little taken back. The two are young, upper-class students, and homosexuality is forbidden. But he soon gives in to the emotions and passion, far beyond the rather platonic expectations expressed by his friend. The affair does not end well, and Maurice has to find a way to navigate these new feelings, until he finds a new object of love.
