Like many Icelanders, Lara struggles with the aftermath of the economic crisis. A devoted mother, she will do anything to provide her son with a stable life and takes a job at Keflavík airport’s passport security. One day, Lara identifies a suspicious passport, leading to the arrest of Adja, an asylum-seeker from Guinea-Bissau. When they accidently meet again, they develop a relationship and despite the profound cultural gap, they share personal experiences that prove universal. When Lara is faced with a life-changing decision, her new friend comes to her aid. Ísold Uggadóttir addresses global issues of immigration and human rights in a poignant human drama for which he won the Best Director Award at Sundance FF.
