Woman Is the Future of Man

South Korea 2004 | 87 minutes | Korean | Hebrew, English subtitles

A down-and-out filmmaker returns from the US and meets an old classmate, now married and a popular lecturer on plastic arts. They talk about their university days and soon reach the topic of a woman whose bed each has shared. The flashbacks encourage the contestants to find their old flame, hoping that some spark has survived. Unlike the men, who are stuck in the past, the woman in question is busy devouring what the present has to offer. With a sophisticated script, virtuoso camera work, and music that functions as the voice of an ironic narrator, Woman Is the Future of Man is an intelligent work, where each scene questions the one that preceded it.
