Mr. Arkadin

The movie is based on a novel Welles published two years earlier; an American tobacco smuggler learns of the last words uttered by a man stabbed in the back: "Gregory Arkadin and Sophie," and believes that he is on to something big. He approaches Mr. Arkadin in the man's Spanish castle and the mysterious Arkadin hires him to investigate a period in his murky past which he claims he cannot remember...
