London, 2020. A national crisis brings a despot to power who uses his secret services to maintain his regime. One night, mild-mannered Evey is rescued from government militias by a masked vigilante named "V" and finds herself accidentally involved in a terrorist attack against the state. The next day the charismatic "V" returns, takes over the airwaves and promises to take down the Parliament within a year. From hereon in we follow the cat and mouse game between him and the totalitarian regime, while Evey fights despotism in her own way... Based on the graphic novel by Allan Moore, James McTeigue (who was assistant director in the "Matrix" films) directs a political sci-fi allegory set in a future eerily reminiscent of the present.
