Venice of post-WWII is where detective Hercule Poirot has chosen to retire to. He is invited by a Venetian lady to a séance to conjure up the spirit of her daughter. The master of ceremony challenges Poirot's rational thought, and when the evening turns into a murder mystery, Poirot himself begins to doubt logic. Kenneth Branagh adapts Agatha Christie for the third time, taking the plot into more mysterious directions that correspond with the horror genre, spicing up the narrative with the presence of a witty thriller writer, played by Tina Fey, who adds humor and lightness to the final result.
