An American in Paris

USA 1951 | 117 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

An American in Paris was the big winner at the 1951 Oscars, primarily for its final scene: 17 minutes of unmatched cinematic choreography, combining color, movement, music and song. As usual in the musical genre, the plot isn't very important. Here, the story focuses on a former American soldier who decides to settle down in Paris and become a painter. He meets a wealthy woman who is willing to support his art, but fate has it that he falls for a young Parisienne with a penny to her name.
