Jindabyne

Australia 2006 | 123 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

Jindabyne is a small town in Australia. Stewart Kane, the local mechanic, sets out with three friends on a fishing expedition. On the first evening, they find the body of a young Aboriginal woman. They debate whether to return and report to the police, or continue on their trip, and decide to continue their journey. Upon returning to town, this decision becomes the trigger of a public and moral outcry around the attitude of the whites to the aboriginal population and will undermine Stewart‘s marriage. Based on a story by Raymond Carver, Ray Lawrence turns a political discussion into dramatic situations shaking up his characters‘ lives. Linney and Byrne render the characters and their hesitations truly believable.
