The Offence

UK 1973 | 112 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

A veteran cop feels burned out after living for years alongside crime. The investigation of a girl's disappearance and the suspicion that a pedophile is roaming free lead him to break down. The role brought out of Sean Connery all that he repressed in prior roles: rage, aggression, and perversion. Sidney Lumet plays on this ambiguity, and the result was not well received. But five decades on, we find a fascinating work – ragged, disturbing, with exceptional performances - worthy of your time and attention.
