Nights of Cabiria

Italy 1956 | 118 minutes | Italian | Hebrew subtitles

Before going on to make La Dolce Vita, the film that would mark a change of direction in the filmmaker’s opus, Fellini returns to the female character who appeared in The White Sheik – the prostitute Cabiria. Giulietta Masina, after portraying a female persona full of depth in La Strada, returns to play the whore with the heart of gold. She is forever mocked by fate, but manages to maintain an undying belief in humanity. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 1957 Cannes Festival.
