My Man Godfrey

USA 1936 | 93 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

A young woman hires a tramp as a butler for her somewhat strange family, little dreaming that he is, in fact, an eccentric millionaire. My Man Godfrey is one of the best screwball comedies of all time, an ironic and witty comedy. With its rapid script, dynamic camerawork, and gleeful performances, this is one of the most notable works of the 1930s that examines with astuteness and an ironic smile the tensions between the sexes and between the classes. At nearly 90, this is still a sharp and most enjoyable work.
