Leonora addio

Italy 2022 | 90 minutes | Italian | Hebrew subtitles

For over 50 years, the Taviani brothers were a thrilling and unique cinematic voice. They created sweeping and intelligent dramas and demonstrated great wisdom and sentiment. Vittorio passed away in 2018, and Paolo's first film on his own is a homage to his brother, consisting of two parts that have to do with Luigi Pirandello, the author that was the inspiration for their film, Kaos: the wish of legendary Italian writer Luigi Pirandello was for his ashes to be transported to Sicily, but during the Mussolini years his remains were interred in a Roman columbarium; with the war over, a delegate is dispatched to shuttle Pirandello's ashes to Sicily, though not without some complications. The second adapts Pirandello's final story, The Nail. With talent and experience, this is a veteran creator's late perspective on his culture.
