Florence, the 1930s. Luca is the bastard son of a wealthy Italian businessman. The father, preferring to keep the affair a secret, has the boy sent to be raised with a group of eccentric Anglo-Saxon women living in Tuscany. Luca grows up as a typical English gentleman, but when WWII rolls around, life will change for everyone in their safe bubble of English civilization. A loosely historical, beautifully polished, excellently acted and quasi-autobiographical film.
