Xavier is a step away from getting a good civil service position in Paris, but first, he must learn Spanish and get some international experience. He picks up and heads for Barcelona, where he finds a room in a sort of pan-European commune with young people like himself. The experience there, portrayed by Cedric Klapisch in his characteristically young and urban style, leads Xavier to reconsider his goals, ambitions, and way of life.
