1940. Twelve-year-old Rolf and his father have fled the Nazis are stuck in the South of France. Their goal is to travel to New York, where Rolf’s mother awaits. Rolf is accompanied by his spirited dog and his one possession, a signed copy of a book by Erich Kästner. On the border with Spain, they meet their guide: Nuria, a girl, only slightly older than Rolf. When Rolf’s father gets caught, Rolf and Nuria are suddenly on their own. The Path tells the story of an adventurous flight across the Pyrenees, and an unexpected friendship between two children who couldn’t be more different at first sight.
