The Quiet American

USA 1993 | 101 minutes | English, French, Vietnamese | Hebrew subtitles

Thomas Fowler is an aging British journalist spending the post WWII years in Indo-China (Vietnam), covering the first stages of the anti-colonial war there. He makes occasional reports back to the office in England, but spends most of his time smoking opium with his local girlfriend. Everything is fine until a young, seemingly naive American walks into the picture. Both murder mystery and political thriller, The Quiet American is based on Graham Greene's allegorical novel about the American role in the Vietnamese conflict.
