Nicolas Cage discovers that good intentions do not guarantee employment. He is divorced, a father to an indifferent daughter, and the only way to pay off his debts is to spend a weekend with his biggest fan, who is willing to pay him a million dollars for the pleasure of his company. Things take a wildly unexpected as Cage is swept into an adventure that includes espionage and saving the world. There have been plenty of self-aware films with actors playing themselves etc etc. But in Unbearable Weight, a work so self-aware it does not take itself that seriously, all one has to do is kick back and enjoy all the twists and turns and the unbelievable presence of Cage and his tremendous and wacky career.
