Angela's Ashes

Based on the bestselling autobiography by Irish-American writer Frank McCourt, Angela's Ashes follows the experiences of young Frankie and his family as they try, against all odds, to escape the poverty endemic in the slums of pre-war Limerick. Like the original, the cinematic adaptation infuses the trying story with a sufficient dose of humor and nostalgia. The fine cast of actors creates flesh and blood characters out of the heroes of the book.
