Imprisoned for an obscure petty crime, Malik is recruited by César Luciani - an established Sicilian mob kingpin. His induction act entails the murder of another prisoner, which the inexperienced Malik has no choice but to perform. More such tasks will follow. The physical and emotional consequences of these acts will bear a heavy toll on Malik. Director Jacques Audiard is a rare magnificent voice in contemporary French cinema.
