Nafas, a young Afghan journalist who has taken refuge in Canada during the time of the civil war with the Taliban, receives a desperate letter from her younger sister. The sister was left behind after losing her legs in a land mine explosion and now announces her intention to commit suicide at the next solar eclipse. Nafas hurries back in the hope of dissuading her sister. She has already tried unsuccessfully to enter Afghanistan by other routes and is now making one last attempt. She has three days to reach Kandahar before the eclipse. A film by veteran Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf, known both for his powerful social messages and poetic style.
