Seventeen Years

China 1999 | 85 minutes | Mandarin | Hebrew subtitles

A sibling rivalry has tragic consequences when a teenager accidentally kills her stepsister. 17 years later, she is released from prison for a brief vacation, but no one is there to meet her. One of the prison guards offers to escort her into the city to find her parents. Naturalistic and beautifully acted, the film is also the first to be filmed inside a Chinese government prison.
