Little Girl
Dir.: Sébastien Lifshitz | 85 minutes

Little Girl

France 2020 | 85 minutes | French | Hebrew subtitles

Sébastien Lifshitz, the renowned French director with four films in Cannes and four more in Berlin, returned this year to the German festival with Little Girl, and exceeded all expectations. For an entire year, Lifshitz followed seven-year-old Sasha, who  ̶  ever since the age of four  ̶  has known and told everyone that she is a little girl even though she was born a boy. While the school and community in her provincial hometown fail to cope with her gender identity, her family supports her relentlessly and leads a tenacious battle for understanding and acceptance. Lifshitz tells Sasha's story with incredible tenderness and rare cinematic insight, resulting in one of the best and most touching documentaries of recent times.
