The morning of his birthday, Schneider, an assassin, is offered a job. He had planned to spend the day with his family and initially turns it down, but the client insists it’s a simple hit, taking out an author living in a remote cabin and assures him he’d be home by lunchtime. Meanwhile, at the cabin, Bax is desperate to get rid of his lover ahead of his emotional daughter’s arrival when he receives a warning call, prompting all hell to break loose.
In his sixth film, Dutch filmmaker and actor Alex van Warmerdam (Borgman) concocts a refreshing, generic combo of a crime thriller and a dark comedy. The result is a highly enjoyable film, full of twists and turns, endless humor and striking visuals.
