Jacques Arnault (Vincent Lindon), head of a humanitarian NGO, sets out with his team to find 300 war orphans in Chad and take them to France for adoption. Journalist Françoise Dubois (Valérie Donzelli) joins the expedition and covers the operation. Over time, the volunteers gradually sink into the brutal reality and face the limitations of humanitarian intervention.
Esteemed Belgian director Joachim Lafosse (Private Property) adapts a well-known news story and casts a sharp eye at the fine line between humanitarianism and paternalistic colonialism. His excellent cast and lively cinematography bring as close as possible to the characters, only to point out their moral failings.
