When the kids in my class went to the local country club, I swam with the amputees. My “vacation resort” was full of handicapped people in wheelchairs and it didn’t bother me at all. On the contrary, in a strange way, it was a nice feeling! I decided to return to the place where I ‘grew up’, the place where war is fought on a daily basis by the handicapped to live as normal a life as possible and just as important, where the families struggle to get used to a life that is unlike the one they dreamed about and knew. Three inspiring stories about three different families who choose to continue living.
