White Plastic Sky

Dir.: Tibor Bánóczki, Sarolta Szabó
| 111 minutes

In a not-too-distant future without animals and plants where the price of human survival is high, a young man breaks every rule to save his wife. With rotoscoped animation that allows the directors to emphasize the heroes' emotional dimension, they engage with questions of love and commitment.

Chicken for Linda!

Dir.: Chiara Malta, Sébastien Laudenbach
| 73 minutes

Paulette owes her daughter Linda an apology. She is willing to put in the effort and make Linda her favorite chicken dish. But Paulette doesn't cook and she doesn't have a chicken. With delicate hand-drawn animation, this is a lovely, humorous, and touching portrait of a mother-daughter relationship.

Mars Express

Dir.: Jérémie Périn
| 88 minutes

Aline Ruby, an obstinate private detective, and Carlos Rivera, an android replica of his deceased partner, throw themselves into a race against time across Mars. They must find Jon Chow, a simple cybernetics student, before he is caught and is killed. A futuristic animation work bursting with brilliance.

Who Is a Hero?

A collection of short animated films inspired by Pirkei Avot. The screening will be accompanied by a lecture and conversation with the filmakers

Flavors of Iraq

Dir.: Leonard Cohen
| 95 minutes

Following his father's death, French-Iraqi journalist Feurat Alani reflects on his father's journey from Iraq to France. He revisits his own personal story as an immigrant son and the country’s current history.

Alice

Dir.: Jan Švankmajer
| 85 minutes

This astounding work by Czech surrealist animator Jan Švankmajer is, without doubt, the most spectacular adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland."  The film is abundant with a stunning combination of pure nonsense and careful logic, black humor, and psychological enlightenment, including many outlandish moments.

Flow

Dir.: Gints Zilbalodis
| 84 minutes

After a great flood, a Cat finds refuge on a boat populated by various species and will have to team up with them despite their differences. In the lonesome boat sailing through mystical overflowed landscapes, they navigate the challenges and dangers of adapting to this new world. A spectacular animation.

Ghost Cat Anzu

Dir.: Yoko Kuno, Nobuhiro Yamashita
| 94 minutes

An animated film about a walking and talking cat that helps a little girl deal with life's hardships? Does one need any more reasons to watch this work? If so, the illustrious animation and combination of humor and sentiment add to a work that is funny, peculiar, and extremely satisfying.
