André Masson is one of the world’s leading art experts, capable of identifying a work’s provenance and value with just one glance. But despite his confidence and extensive experience, nothing prepares him for what happens when he is tasked with appraising an item found in a private home—a painting signed by the renowned Austrian artist Egon Schiele. This coveted work has been sought after by many, yet it seems to have vanished from the face of the earth. André believes it is indeed an original piece by Schiele and makes his ruling accordingly. However, as word of the discovery spreads, he begins to question his initial conclusion. Pascal Bonitzer's new film, based on a true and unbelievable story, is a fluid and skillful drama that continually surprises.
