Upon his release from the hospital, Sir Wilfrid Robarts is forbidden from appearing in court again, but when a man accused of murder seeks his advice, he cannot help but take the case. All the evidence is against him, but thanks to his legal cunningness and the suspect's German wife - the path to acquittal may be found. Billy Wilder does Agatha Christie, probably the best adaptation ever made. Charles Laughton is terrific as the seasoned and impatient attorney, Dietrich is brilliant as the woman who will do anything to save her love, and Tyrone Power presents a hero whose charm is irresistible. Six plus something decades on, Witness for the Prosecution is a true pleasure. Not to be missed.
