Three soldiers returning from WWII, part ways in New York City and promise to meet again 10 years later. A decade passes, each of them has descended into his own life, and they come to the reunion with the burden of life on their shoulders. It's Always Fair Weather is a somewhat sequel to On the Town, the first collaboration between Stanley Donen (director), Gene Kelly (director and actor), and screenwriters Betty Comden and Adolph Green, which was followed by the timeless Singin' in the Rain. This film is their third, last, and most melancholy work. It presents a sober look at America a decade after the War while offering a retreat with a great combination of plot and sweeping dance sequences.
